The boat ride across Lake Victoria, the largest freshwater lake on the continent is itself an excellent experience, where you cross the Equator line and view diverse fishing villages. Arriving on Ngamba Island, guides will receive you and after a short briefing will lead you to the viewing platform to watch chimpanzee as they return from the forest for scheduled feeding sessions from caretakers. The daily diet supplementary feeding session to the chimps is necessary as the forest habitat on Ngamba Island is small and not sustainable to the entire chimp community. The feeding sessions is also when the research monitoring team observes individuals for any health issues.
