The 6-Days Uganda Wilderness Adventure Safari offers an off-the-beaten-route experiences in Uganda’s most scenic safari circuit. Safari Overview

Our adventure begins by exploring the wildlife-rich Kidepo Valley National Park tucked away in the remote north-east Uganda. This hidden wilderness gem has won numerus international accolades for its wilderness “feel” settings, incredible diversity of game, birdlife amidst enchanting landscapes. In here, take camp in the wilderness to watch the star-lit African skies and listen to the sounds of local wild residents. From the wilderness of Kidepo, explore the Karamoja culture with our local-guide to learn on the rich ancient cultural norms and traditions of the Karimojong. Further east, combine a guided day-hike onto Mt. Moroto known from its incredible landscapes and a visit to the local IK people that inhabit its jagged high elevations. With time on your hands, take an optional  biking tour to explore this incredible land with its inspiring landscapes of towering rocky outcrops and mountain ranges, expansive golden savanna, semi-arid vegetation.

The last leg of adventure will be exploring Uganda’s biggest reserve, the Pain Upe for its excellent wildlife and stunning landscapes of expansive plains and mountain ranges. Here, you will take an interpretive walking safari to encounter local wildlife on foot, tick off incredible birdlife and appreciate landscapes.

Wildlife Highlights on this Safari

Wildlife highlights include; the Cheater, Roan Antelope, Bright’s Gazelle, Bohor Reedbuck, Mountain Reedbuck, Klipspringer, Oryx, Common Eland, Bat-eared Fox and Common Ostrich. Kidepo is known for its rock-loving Lion prides but the Leopard, Side-stripped Jackal and Spotted Hyena occur. Grazers include a thousand-strong Cape Buffalo herds, Nubian Giraffe, Oribi, Elephant, Zebra, Kob, Deffassa Waterbuck and Common Warthog among others.

6-Days Uganda Wilderness Adventure Safari Itinerary

Arrival Day: Pick up and transfer to your Hotel

Upon your arrival in Uganda, you will be met by our Untamed Uganda representative who will receive you and transfer you to your booked hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you will have an extended overview on your planned adventure safari by your guide and fix pick up time tomorrow.  Accommodation choice: The Boma Hotel, Entebbe HB. Drive time: 10mins from Airport

Safari Day 1: Full Day Drive to Kidepo National Park

Early this morning, your driver/guide will pick you from your hotel for drive to the remote Kidepo Valley NP. The drive will take you through the heart of Uganda, exposing you to a diversity of lifestyles, different cultures and landscapes. On short stops at various colorful fruit markets and small towns you will enjoy and the warmth of Ugandan people as you exchange smiles and greetings.

At Karuma bridge, you will cross the world’s longest river, the Nile River as it races west towards Murchison Falls also its biggest and last obstacle on its Mediterranean bound voyage. The Nile forms not only geographic divide but also cultural between the north and central regions of Uganda. Over the northern banks of the Nile, watch the landscapes and cultures transform as you drive through upcountry quite towns. A hot coffee and lunch stop will be mid way of the journey targeting to arrive at your accommodation late that evening.  Accommodation: Savanna Lodge Mid-range FB. Drive Time: 10hrs

Days 2 and 3: Game Drives, Sunsets and Wilderness Camping Experience

On these two days you will explore the wilderness of Kidepo NP for its incredible wildlife and inspiring landscapes. On interpretive wildlife drives, we will explore the Narus river valley system a constant river flowing all year round that attracts herds of buffalo, zebra, elephants, Kob while common eland and giraffe tame the woodland. On drives, look out for the famous rock Lion prides that frequent several granite outcrops, the elusive Leopard and on the plains the Cheater. While here take an optional camping experience under the star-lit African skies and hear the sounds of the night.

The temperatures here are way hotter so there will be early starts to catch on the parks residents and then evening drives when its cooler. Wildlife aside, Kidepo boasts of inspiring landscapes characterized by mountain ranges, wooded grasslands, granite rock outcrops towering across plains, and endless wilderness as far the eye can see. We will take it slow, taking time to soak in and connect with nature, watching lovely sunrise and sunsets, listening to chittering birds and miles of wilderness. Day 4: Transfer to Moroto and Karamoja Community Experience.

Starting early this morning, we will transfer eastwards through the heartland of the arid Karamoja to the wonderful town of Moroto arriving in time for lunch. We will take an guided evening walk to a cultural experience as we tour one Karamojong community. This ancient semi-nomadic pastoral community lives in enclosed tight communities called “manyattas” and keep cattle and goats as both a symbol of wealth and food resource.

Day 5: Transfer and Game Drives in Pian Upe

This morning we will transfer further south into the expansive savanna wooded Pian Upe reserve arriving by lunch time and after checking in we will take an evening game drive. This Uganda’s second largest protected area is a true wilderness offering various activities to the adventurer. Wildlife is excellent including; the Cheater, Mountain Reedbuck, Common Eland, Jackson Hartebeest, Common ostrich, Greater Kudu, Roan Antelopes among others. Sunrises and sunsets over these plains and jagged mountain ranges are some of the best sights on any Ugandan safari.  Accommodation: Pain Upe UWA Bandas, FB. Drive time 6hrs

Day 6: A Walking Safari in Pian-Upe and Transfer to Kampala.

This morning after breakfast, we will set out for a 2/3hr guided walking safari. This wildlife reserve offers excellent scenery of local landscapes that include distant Mt. Kadam and Mt. Elgon mountain ranges and savanna plains. Birdlife here is excellent, where the impressive local checklist includes Uganda’s only endemic bird and various habitat restricted specialists. We return to the camp by mid-morning and transfer to Kampala. The drive, traverses this highly agricultural countryside mainly growing rice, corn and estates of sugarcane. Lunch stop will be by the shores of the Nile at Jinja thereafter continue to Kampala/Entebbe.
