Safari Overview
The tour begins in the adventure capital of Jinja, where our highlight will be white-water rafting challenge on roaring Nile rapids. This adrenaline experience, takes on various world-class Nile rapids classified between grades 3 to 5, categorized according to the level of difficulty. The experience is led by a highly professional and safety-conscious rafting team to a session lasting half-a-day. In between this exciting action, you will have short breaks to take a snack, regroup and appreciate various wildlife on the Nile banks.
The tour heads on further east of Jinja to come in the small town of Sipi set high on the slopes of Mt. Elgon one of the largest free-standing volcanic mountains in the world. From Sipi, you will take a full-day guided hike on Mt. Elgon exploring the tropical forest belt and bamboo zone for chances to see primates and excellent birdlife.
Down from Sipi village, you will take guided hike to explore the triple water falls that occur along the Sipi river that meanders through the community farms and homes. The spectacular waterfalls are formed as the Sipi river cascades over hanging volcanic rocks before finally plunging down onto the Teso flood plains. The hike is led by a community guide, who will share vast knowledge of the local cultures and agricultural practices done on these fertile volcanic slopes. The hike climaxes with coffee experience right from the gardens to brewing using ancient traditional procedures. The highland Arabic Coffee grown on these fertile slopes ranks among the best coffee in the world.

Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days White water Rafting and Adventure Safari
Day One: Rafting Experience on the Nile and transfer to Mt. Elgon
This morning your driver guide will pick you from your hotel/residence to transfer to Jinja for white water rafting on the Nile. Arriving in time for briefing, your rafting guides will take you through safety precautions and about the entire rafting activity. You will then be transferred to the starting point on the Nile, where the captain and the safety guides takes you a short introduction session on how to use paddles, ropes and rafts. From here, action starts. The rafting experience covers water rapids categorized from Grade 3 to Grade 5 that depicts the water current speed and difficulty. Lunch will be on the Nile. From this action-packed morning, you will then drive on to pleasant slopes of Mt. Elgon. Accommodation: Home of Friends, FB. Drive Time 6.5hrs
Day Two: Day Hike at Mt Elgon NP
This morning, you will transfer to the trailhead on Mt. Elgon NP for a One-day nature hike. The national park protects the higher slopes from average altitudes of 2500m all the way to 4321m on Wagagai, the tallest peak on Mt. Elgon.
This guided walk with take you through various vegetation zones including tropical rainforest, afro-montane and bamboo zones teaming with primates and birdlife. Wildlife include D’braza, Blue and Red-tailed monkeys and wealthy of birdlife. The trail offers spectacular views of the mountain ranges, hanging cliffs with waterfalls and distant and the Teso flood plains below in the valley.

Day Three: Sipi River Hike and Coffee Experience
This morning we will be met by a community guide who then will lead us on a triple waterfall hike following the Sipi river that runs through this village before it cascades down onto the plains below. Sipi river is named after the banana like plant that grow on its water edge and originates from the higher slopes on Mt. Elgon flowing over hanging lava cliffs and thus creating spectacular water falls. This scenic and moderate hike leads through the heavily cultivated Sabiny community where the guide will share cultural, historical heritage and point out several crops grown on these volcanic fertile slopes.
The walk will then culminate at the local coffee farm for a full session on coffee processing. The Arabica coffee grown on these high-altitude volcanic soils is the best in the region. The action begins from the garden right to your cup. When you like the aroma and you will, be sure to purchase locally processed coffee packages from these producers. Day Four: Transfer to Kampala via the Source of the Nile
Today on your return transfer, you will arrive in time for lunch in the historical town of Jinja, Uganda’s industrial powerhouse owing to electricity generated here and geographic location on the Nile. The economic boom brought about diverse cultures reflected on the town’s architectural, religious and business streets. Its pleasant weather and superb location on the Nile and L. Victoria, well planned streets explain its attractiveness to adventurers thus earning it a name as “an adventure capital of Uganda”.
After lunch break, you will take a 2hr boat cruise that will bring you to the mouth of world’s longest river the Nile, as it departs its reservoir L. Victoria for its over 6500km trek through the heart of Africa to the Mediterranean seas. Here at “ejinja” as the locals call it (literally translated as a place of stones), you will disembark from your boat to stand at point where the excess water from L. Nalubare (L. Victoria) overflow over a rocky ridge now submerged due to the construction of Owen falls dam 4km downstream.
It’s here that the first European explore one named John Speke while standing on the southern banks witnessed thus settling the age-old question by answering that. From here at L. Victoria, the ancient and biblical Nile River drew its life-giving waters. After the cruise, you will transfer to Kampala/Entebbe and dropped at a venue of your convenience.
